| Learn Spanish for health and perinatal care in the comfort of your home. The following titles are part of a series designed to achieve linguistic and cultural competence in health care and childbirth. This series is appropriate for beginners as well as more advanced learners. Language learning is achieved in a comfortable environment of home study and professional support over a 6-24 month period. Titles in the series include the following: Don't Worry: Spanish for Health Care Topics: medical histories, record keeping, complaints and symptoms, describing pain, STD interviews, physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment and medication Expectant Mom: Spanish for Childbirth Topics: prenatal care visits, obstetric histories, the physical exam, pregnancy education, labor & delivery Fragile Life: Spanish for Mother/Infant and Neonatal Intensive Care Topics: labor & delivery, postpartum care, newborn care, breastfeeding, hospital discharge, family planning Help Me: Spanish for Emergency Care Topics: pre-hospital care, patient assessment, pediatric emergencies, complaints & symptoms, describing pain, record keeping, medical histories, mental health histories, physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment Wondrous Woman: Spanish for Childbirth and Woman's Health Topics: prenatal care visits, obstetric histories, physical exams, pregnancy education, hospital admission, labor & delivery, comfort measures, postpartum care, newborn care, breastfeeding, hospital dishcharge, family planning, well woman care, gynecology, culture and birth. This course may be completed for 2.0 units of continuing education credit as approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (provider # 9900/070). Course materials include a workbook containing the Spanish/English terminology specific to each title, cultural awareness activities, and language acquisition strategies. Each title is accompanied by an audio component for listening and pronunciation practice. These courses have been used successfully by health care professionals nationwide. |
