Perinatal Spanish in Puerto Rico A Spanish language and culture immersion program for childbirth professionals
	Come join us for un unforgettable experience on the "island of enchantment:"  one week of Spanish language and culture immersion for perinatal professionals on the tropical island of Puerto Rico. Soak up the culture and language in this lush, tropical paradise as you attend Spanish classes designed specifically for childbirth professionals.  Learn how to obtain obstetric histories, offer culturally-sensitive prenatal care, guide a woman through labor and delivery, counsel her through postpartum recovery, and advise her on lactation & newborn care.  Then, practice your new language skills with native childbirth professionals and expectant moms and learn about childbirth in the Hispanic Caribbean by observing local OB/GYN clinics and attending births (optional and depending on availability of local staff). Afternoons are yours for touring historic towns, fishing villages, and coffee plantations  or for relaxing on some of the most pristine beaches of the Caribbean.  Nights are for dancing to the tropical beat of salsa and indulging in the local cuisine.  No prior language skills are required. Students are divided according to level and given activities appropriate to their abilities.  An advanced course is available for those who have already achieved a level of proficiency in Spanish and want to perfect their skills or study more advanced topics in perinatal care. Individualized attention to student needs is one of the highlights of our program.
